The team shared with me that BondCable was inspired by this candy!
BondCable is a charging cable that bonds by itself. It is the first in-house product by Design Insight under the brand, CleverThings.
While the product team was fine-tuning BondCable for production, I was tasked to create publicity visuals for launch in 2 months.
How might we help people build trust in a product and brand that no one has heard of before?

Bonding in Action
To garner support for a new product, we established trust by showing photos and videos of the product in action.
We aimed for relatability and clarity by showing how BondCable eradicates the frustration of tangled wires in a neat, compact way.
A Minute to Win It
We kept the Kickstarter video short (~1 minute) for a higher completion rate that would give the campaign a higher Kickstarter ranking.
I co-produced the campaign video, including storyboarding, filming, animating and editing.
Social Media
Bonding on Social Media
Active, frequent engagement was important to keep backers interested. We posted on our socials once every 2-3 days, hosted giveaways and showed behind-the-scenes work for backers to feel more confident in the product.
Packaging
Colours Paint a Thousand Words
We initially used a black & white palette for BondCable’s branding, but realised that colours helped in 2 ways:
Made it easier for backers to clarify the cables they wanted, and
Helped us quickly differentiate the 5 cable types during packing.
I used warm and cool tones to represent non-Lightning and Lightning devices respectively. (Rendering done by Stephanie)
Epilogue
Fully Funded in 1 Day
At the end of the 1-month campaign, we managed to raise $75,000+, which was more than 5 times our fundraising target, with backers from USA, UK and Asia.
